Spring Melt

Spring Melt information will be updated on this page.
Please check back regularly for information.

The Municipality is currently undertaking advanced mitigation measures in preparation for the spring thaw and has prepared municipal equipment for deployment should it be required. The Municipality will continue to monitor river water levels and the progression of the thaw and the capacities of drainage infrastructure and will undertake necessary works to mitigate possible flood damage.

If you are concerned for your property, the use of sandbags is a simple, but effective way to prevent or reduce flood water damage. Properly filled and placed sandbags can act as a barrier to divert moving water around buildings. Sandbag construction does not guarantee a water tight seal, however is satisfactory for use in most situations.

The Municipality will be placing sand, bags, ties & funnels for use by residents, if required, at the following locations:

Lorette - Public Works/Firehall (1393 Dawson Road)

Landmark - Public Works Shop (150 Main Street)

RM Office/Public Works Shop - 28007 Mun 52N, Dufresne, MB

Ste Geneviève - Fire Hall (68 Saltel Road)

*Please ensure to bring your shovel and be considerate and only take what you need*

The sand provided is ECO sand. This is the same sand utilized by the Municipality on the roads/streets for traction control.

The sand blend consists of % 1.25 salt and beat juice brine, to help resist freezing, however please note that this material will freeze if rain and freezing temperatures occur.
