Waste Management


The RM of Taché operates 2 facilities where solid waste may be disposed of.

Lorette Solid Waste Management Facility - 48028 Mun 25E (Gendron Rd near Lorette)

Monominto Transfer Station - 38111 PR501 (Ste Genevieve MB)

PLEASE NOTE that demolition and/or construction materials are no longer accepted at the Monominto Transfer Station. These materials may be deposited at the Solid Waste Management Facility located on Gendron Road Monday through Thursday with a 24 hour notice to the facility at 204-878-2799.

Branches are also accepted at the facilities and are chipped at no charge. To facilitate chipping of branches in a safe manner, it is requested the tree trunks/branches be no longer than 5 feet in length and do not exceed 12" diameter. If the diameter exceeds 12", we then request that the tree trunks/branches be cut in 16" or 18" lengths.

Shingles - PLEASE NOTE 
All shingles must be disposed of in the NEW shingle bunker at the Solid Waste Management Facility. All tar paper/wood must be removed prior to disposal.

Please ensure that your materials do not contain asbestos materials as our facilities are not licensed to accept these and the Municipality reserves the right to deny entry if asbestos is suspected.

Burning Barrels
Friendly reminder to residents. Contents from burn barrells MUST be cooled and bagged in order to dispose of at the Landfill. This is to ensure there are no fire hazards when putting materials into the pit.


Batteries
Please refrain from placing batteries into your household garbage. Batteries are accepted at the Landfill or Municipal Office free of charge for proper disposal. Batteries can be harmful to the environment, and lithium batteries pose a severe fire hazard to equipment and staff when placed into the pit at the landfill with household garbage. 


Fluorescent Lights
Disposal of compact fluorescent light bulbs & fluorescent tubes can be taken to the Lorette Solid Waste Management Facility or The Monominto Transfer Station.

Paint Cans
Disposal of used paint cans may be taken to the Lorette Solid Waste Management Facility - 48028 Mun 25E (Gendron Rd near Lorette). The Monominto Transfer Station will not accept used paint cans.

EcoCentre
The Rural Municipality of Taché in conjunction with the Manitoba Association for Resource Recovery Corporation entered into agreement to establish, develop, implement and maintain a used oil products and material stewardship program.

Located at the Lorette Solid Waste Management Facility and the Monominto Transfer Station is a fully operational EcoCentre for the purpose of collecting used oil, filters and used oil containers.

  • Collect used oil from your vehicle, lawn mower, farm equipment or other machinery and place it in its original container. Do not contaminate the oil with other liquids.
  • Collect your used oil filters and containers, and place the filters in a clean container.
  • Return your used oil products to the Lorette Solid Waste Management Facility located on Gendron Road (MUN 25E) approximately 1½ kms south of P.R. #405 or the Monominto Transfer Station located at 38111 P.R. 501 Ste. Geneviève where the staff will be happy to assist you.
